The PADI Mermaid™ Course is a complete program that includes knowledge development and two pool sessions over approximately 6-8 hours. These sessions focus on developing dynamic mermaid skills beyond the Basic Mermaid™, helping you express yourself underwater through techniques unique to mermaiding. (Basic Mermaid is included in this course, so there’s no need to take it separately.)
The course begins with knowledge development through independent study using PADI Mermaid eLearning, which must be completed prior to attending the practical sessions.
This is followed by two pool sessions where participants will learn essential mermaiding skills and safety techniques. During these sessions, you will practice a range of unique underwater movements, including dolphin (butterfly) kicks and back glides. The training will also cover key skills such as breath-hold techniques, basic diving practices, and problem management to ensure confidence and safety in the water.
Participants must be at least 10 years old, although younger mermaids (guppies) may be considered (please contact us to discuss options). All participants need to be able to swim at least 75 metres without aids and be comfortable floating at the surface for five minutes. Group sizes are limited to a maximum of four participants to ensure a safe and personalised experience. Good physical health is required, along with the completion of a medical form prior to participation. No prior mermaiding experience is necessary.
Participants can enhance their experience with optional add-ons. For an additional cost, your instructor can capture casual underwater snapshots of you in your mermaid tail. Alternatively, you can upgrade to an exclusive pool photo shoot with a professional photographer. This premium option includes guidance on elegant posing, access to a range of accessories, a pre-shoot consultation, use of underwater strobes, and makeup tips to help you achieve the perfect look.
