Diver’s Den is proud to be a PADI Eco Centre – one of only 48 PADI Eco Centers worldwide, out of over 6,600 dive centres in 186 countries and territories around the world. To be awarded as a PADI Eco Center, Divers Den has met and committed to the following eco-actions and goals: Participation in the PADI AWARE Adopt the Blue™ program, be an active Green Fins Member, and demonstrate an exemplary level of environmental best practices through the above programs
Our tours are accredited under Ecotourism Australia’s Advanced Ecotourism Certificate. This is the highest possible certification, reserved for innovative ecotourism operators committed to:
We also support the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority’s Eye on the Reef program. This is a monitoring and assessment program enabling anyone who visits the Great Barrier Reef to contribute to its long term protection by collecting valuable information about reef health, marine animals and incidents.
Divers Den has a long history with PADI AWARE, a publicly funded non-profit with three registered charities across the globe.
Having maintained AWARE’s ‘GO Eco Operator’ status since 2006, we are now proudly a 100% AWARE partner.
As part of Divers Den’s qualification for Eco Centre Status, we became a digital member of the UN’s Green Fins initiative, which aims to protect coral reefs through sustainable tourism. For this, we adhere to environmentally-friendly guidelines in our operations; and it is the only internationally recognised environmental standard certification for marine tourism with a robust assessment system.
We’re also proud to be members of the reef conservation organisation Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef. Divers Den takes part in the annual Great Reef Census trip, joining the makeshift research flotilla of dive boats, tourism vessels, superyachts, fishing charters, tug boats and island operations to capture tens of thousands of survey images from hundreds of reefs across the Great Barrier Reef.
