The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC)
The PADI Dive Instructor Credential is your passport to an international lifestyle of great diving, traveling, meeting new people, and best of all, working in a job you will really love.
Choosing Deep Sea Divers Den to provide you with your professional diver education will put your success first. Our students usually have a success rate that runs at 100% and our instructor course graduates are highly sought after by employers (dive companies) both in Australia and around the world. You are assured of personal attention and a PADI dive instructor program that teaches far more than the minimum requirements.
Duration: 10 course days over 12 days
Commences: 6 courses per year
The PADI Instructor Development Course is the gateway to becoming a professional PADI DIVING INSTRUCTOR. As the name indicates, this PADI instructor course emphasises professional development and learning. The PADI IDC develops the leadership abilities of individuals who already possess instructor-level dive theory knowledge and role model watermanship and rescue skills. The PADI IDC shows candidates how to implement and apply the PADI system in confined water, classroom and open water environments. Most importantly, candidates learn how to be confident at providing professional training that is fun but safe for all involved.
PADI standards require the PADI IDC to be conducted over a minimum of 7 days. The Deep Sea Divers Den PADI IDC is conducted over ten days, with two days off in the middle. We made the Cairns PADI IDC program slightly longer in order to give our candidates the maximum amount of training and professional guidance in their personal development towards becoming a PADI Dive Instructor.
The IDC is followed by an optional but highly recommended Deep Sea Divers Den Pro Pack that will fine-tune your underwater problem solving and instructional abilities in preparation for the IE. The Pro Pack also revises and augments your theory knowledge.
"We pride ourselves on helping every candidate to become the best instructor they could possibly be. We do this by providing personal attention, a relaxed pace and of course lots of professional advice and guidance throughout the course."
All PADI IDC's begin with independent learning and preparation at home. In order to gain most from the Instructor Development Course, candidates are expected to complete all Knowledge Reviews from the IDC Candidate Workbook prior to the start of the IDC.
Scuba Instructors affiliated with other certification organisations may attend a PADI IDC program (followed by an IE) in order to cross over to PADI to become PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors. A reduced course fee applies to cross-over instructors.
