PADI Dive Master
The Course
The PADI Divemaster Course involves an internship with our Company, during which the candidate will serve as an instructional assistant to qualified PADI Instructors.
The internship offers a minimum schedule of 14 course days over 18 days, which includes TWO 3Day/2Night trips on our liveaboard Ocean Quest.
Deep Sea Divers Den includes the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Course as part of the Divemaster program. This is a fun extra PADI certification included for free (valued at $250) that aims to perfect the candidates' buoyancy which is vital to all PADI Professionals.
The PADI Divemaster Course is a major step towards becoming a PADI Openwater Scuba Instructor. This course prepares you for working in the dive industry and is recognised world over.
The Deep Sea Divers Den PADI Divemaster course involves an internship during which the Divemaster candidate will serve as an instructional assistant to a qualified PADI instructor. The objectives are to gain familiarity with the diver-training process, develop an awareness of typical student problems and learn how to supervise and control divers in general.
The course involves working with real students and real instructors in actual training situations. This internship includes two 3-day/2-night trips to sea on board our liveaboard dive vessel OceanQuest. Throughout your internship you will be evaluated in pool and ocean dives by our instructors.
Prerequisites for the divemaster course:
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- PADI Advanced Open Water or equivalent *
- PADI Rescue Diver certification or equivalent *
- A valid diving medical to Australian standard AS 4005.1, no less than 12 months old (Australian standard AS2299 if you plan to work in Australia)
- No less than 20 logged Scuba Dives, and 60 logged Scuba Dives prior to certification, showing experience in deep, night and navigation dives
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (within last 2 years).
- If a current First Ait certification is not held, it is readily available in Cairns.

The PADI Divemaster Course consists
of three main areas of assessment:
- Diving Knowledge Development
- Watermanship and Scuba Diving Skills
- Practical Application
The objectives of the internship as follows:
- To gain familiarity with the student diver training process
- Develop an awareness of typical student problems
- Learn how to teach PADI Divemaster Conducted Programs
